Has anyone ever heard of building a Mac inside of a guitar before? I have an old piece-of-crap guitar that is sitting in the garage, and I was thinking of hacking a IIsi into it.Macs Liberated: SE (with SuperDrive), IIsi, Quadra 700, 6100, PB 5300, PowerMac 5400 PCs liberated from Windows: 3 |

Sounds worthy of AppleFritter! Now what you need to do is mount a small mic along with the IIsi in the guitar, that way you can strum it and have it recorded! That would be kinda cool, eh? 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Regular Disappear! |

While the IIsi was the first mac with a built-in sound input port, it can only sample at 8-bit mono. Though, for pureply hack purposes, it wouldn't be so bad. I mean, having the computer inside the guitar is going to mess up the acoustics in the first place! 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Regular Disappear! |

I'm picturing a Powerbook mobo inside the base-part-thingy, with the LCD screen in the middle of the stick-part-thingy (I don't know much about guitars). Wouldn't a desktop mac like a IIci cause heating problems in a guitar, especially if it is acoustic (wooden)?Wonko The Sane Engineer-in-training 3 Macs Liberated "You can't possibly be a scientist if you mind people thinking that you're a fool."- Wonko The Sane |

030's are pretty cool (running). Acoustic guitars would have more than enough room inside to allow air to circulate. Wonko- just curious, but how would the LCD in the neck work? You mean it would hang off the side? Like this?----------------------------------------=+=+=+ ----------| ********* |----------------=+=+=+ <---(head w/ tuning pegs) | ********* | | ********* | <--- (LCD screen) Forgive my ASCII art - that thing took like 10 tries

tags are your friend! ;)i think a powerbook music stand with a wireless or even corded half-qwerty or twiddler keyboard and trackball on the face of the guitar would be very cool. jt ™. .

I was thinking something more along the lines of: |**********| |**********| -------|**********|------------------=+=+=+ -------| ********* |----------------=+=+=+ <---(head w/ tuning pegs) |**********|- LCD Screen |**********| The LCD should be in the middle, otherwise it would be a little akward. Hmmm....that didn't come out right. |**********| |**********| -------|**********|------------------=+=+=+ -------|********* |----------------=+=+=+ <---(head w/ tuning pegs) |**********|- LCD Screen |**********| Does that work? arrgghh!!!! format:
ASCII art
< = [ > = ] HUMOR ME!!!!! TRY IT!!!!! jt ™. . p.s. if you don't put the lcd on the backside of an oversized, sharply bent back board for the tuning pegs, i don't see how you will be able to bridge any high pitched chords or even play it, btw! maybe a newton sized LCD on the top side of the soundbox where you could see it or a small monitor on the floor if there is some kind of foot pedal interface for the pickup on an electric modified acoustic guitar would work. dunno, i don't play, but the images in my head don't work the way i see what you've suggested. how would it be attached and how could you see it while playing?
