I just got off the phone with Apple Canada looking for parts for my Newton. They informed me that they had no parts on hand but I could phone the fulfillment center.

Now I had a number for the fulfillment center (probably the US one) which was 1-888-273-3594. That number now connects me to some weight loss hotline No good. The number Apple Canada gave me is 1-800-379-7934. That's a parts center all right but they told me the part numbers I have are wrong. I can't for the life of me find the "right" part number anywhere!

Does anybody have the correct Part #s for these items and/or another number for a fulfillment center I can call? The parts are:

Battery Pack, Rechargable, NiMh 922-2968 (MP2k NiMH)
Battery Tray, Alkaline 922-3307 (MP2k)
Cable, Adapter, Message Pad 2000 / 2100 to DIN-9 922-2971
Cover, Flip 922-3306 (MP2k lid/door!)
Keyboard 661-0963
Stylus, Pkg. of 5 922-2969 (MP2k)

I'd appreciate any help anybody can offer.

OH! I also need to find where my serial number is on my Newton. I figure it should be on the back somewhere but the only number I can find is at the bottom of the label, just beside the text that says 'Reset' That number is 825-4239-A Could that be my serial number? If not how/where can I find the actual serial?

BTW, this is where I originally found the list of part #s that Apple says is wrong.

Okay, thought I'd provide an update: Got a hold of a tech guy who knew what he was talking about... unfortunately I just missed George, their Newton guy, but he's supposed to call me tomorrow with a price list for a few of the above items.

Really all I'm looking for is the pack of stylus' since mine's an ugly aftermarket one, the adapter so I can start transferring stuff, and maybe a new battery depending on the price. Mine seems to be going downhill pretty quick.

One a related note, how long is a new battery supposed to last? I rarely use the backlight or the modem since I've heard they'll suck a ton of power... I found a old ad for the 2x00 series that says it should have a 3 to 6 week battery life off a set of AAs. Does anybody see that kind of life?

I ahve the rechargeable battery pack in my 2100. I've had it run for 2 weeks, but I generally plug it in at least every other day, and if I'm in the cafe with it, It's plugged in, because useing the ethernet and backlight would drop me to a matter of HOURS of life.

Nuts. I knew I should have checked back here more often. Thanks for the reply Marchie. Apple turned out to be a no go. It seems Apple has no parts on hand whatsoever. The guy I talked to was really apologetic about it all though.

I'm just going to try to get a dongle off eBay I guess. I'm keeping my eye on a few items actually. A battery, maybe a keyboard. I didn't get into the university course I was expecting to spend my money on so I'll just have to find an alternative place to blow it all ::eyes the newton::

I've been running my Newton off battery since the 29th of May. I recharged the battery when I got it (On the 28th) but I'm kind of worried about a memory effect so I haven't plugged it in since. Not really heavy use but the battery's lasting amazingly well.

I'm starting to think I got a real sweet deal on this baby. It has very few scratches, all the clips, the battery works great... I'm happy So far the only problems are a scratch across the Apple logo and a small crack on the top hinge of the screen cover. Aside from that it's golden
