Hey, I thought of this last night while working on the hotline server. How about a chat room? I have a performa 476 w/ ethernet just beggin for some action, and i thought i could host a basic chat room. Maybe web based or even just an AIM chat room like what lEM does, but i can log it and archive it for all to see. Let me know if this is an interest as well. I'll make it happen...

ok, the ethernet card in the performa is choosing not to work. If you have any experience with asante lc ards, let me know in the balloon help section.

So i tried to setup a room like what low end mac has. Couldn't figure it out. might be because i'm already fried from trying to get the hotline server up and going or because it's going on 2am.

I emailed the contact for webpage content at lem. Hopefully he'll fill me in with how they did it. Incase it doesn't work out. I'll think of something else. Probably irc or the chat on a hotline server.

ugh.. eyes, dry tired.

From what Captain Z has shown we already have a AIM Chat rooM! Crazy huh, we can still use a IRC one, or even Java! IRC is very 68k friendly where Java isnt, but hey its nice to know that when you are out exploring the cavrens of the 68k thrift stores you can bust out your Powerbook and get online to chat and get help!

Yes, I did propose a like to the 68KMLA Chat Room in the War Room, but the thread died, twice (first time in November when I proposed it, second time in March when it was resurrected). To date, I still want to see a link to it on the main page.

Basicly, it's a simple link you can put on the forums that when clicked will bring you to a chat room in AOL Instant Messanger. I made a thread about it in the War Room, and brought it back up yesterday.

ok, i received instructions for the aim chat link. Of course i tried this, and had no luck but i'll post them (there isn't much) here:

Create a link with the format

aim:gochat?roomname=LEMchat

and pick whatever name you want to replace LEMchat.

if that's all we have to do, then it'd would be nice to have a chat room available. I guess i'll leave it up to the generals.
