Why do people ask questions like this? I mean, sometimes, even the answer to "should I throw myself in front of this train" will be yes.... It all depends on your circumstances.

And only you know what they are.

Cheers!

Looks to me like a PCI card. It won't fit in your 840av. You need a NuBus card if you want a SCSI accelerator on it.

The Adaptec 2930 is actually a pretty decent PCI SCSI card. It's one of the few you'll find that supports SCSI-3 (20MBps max xfer speed), and thus would be good in either in a PCI NWR Mac (beige G3 to dual 1GHz G4) as a way to use older SCSI drives, or in any PCI PowerMac if you happen to come across any SCSI-3 narrow drives, like those made by Western Digital (I was thinking of getting one for my 7500, since I just so happen to have one of those elusive Western Digital SCSI-3 narrow drives! )

But, any way you slice it, 72 pounds it ridiculous if not insane for this card. I've seen them sell for US$25 or less on eBay (take a look!), which is probably not even a quarter of that.
