I have noticed that some members don't know the address of the hotline mirror server. It is:68k.dns2go.com It is a mirror of the 68k.torpedobird.com server on a fast cable connection. It is run on a quadra 700/ppc with two "Big @$$™" 2 gig hard drives. It is up most of the time, but once in a while the cable goes out (I live in the boonies!) or, since the server is in my garage, the cats tend to unplug the AAUI transciever....and I don't notice it for a while. Weapons engineering division, 68kMLA

up to 4.5-5kb/s!!!!!
I usually get only 3kb/s TOPS!

I keep it in the garage because my room is tiny, and is home to my g3, 6100, Quadra 800, and my brother's g3, duodock, and lcIII+ That, and those "Big @$$™" seagate hard drives tend to be quite loud, I can hear them clear across the house (75 feet) And...The electrical situation in my room is very dire...the cord on the main power strip gets quite warm with just the 2 G3s, quadra, and lcIII+ running. And..I have to run a 10,000 btu window air condtioner off of the same circuit..Which makes the 20 amp breaker blissfully pop and sizzle (Seriously!) If my mom decides to sweep, she has to strategically choose which outlet to plug the sweeper into, otherwise she will blow a breaker  Weapons engineering division, 68kMLA

The true "Shaggin' Wagon" is gone (its main bearings were shot, losing oil pressure)...but the Quadra from Hell (actual name is Alexis), along with the IIci do live in the same room as my mom's "Mini Shaggin' Wagon" and my brother's "Blazemobile" Weapons engineering division, 68kMLA

Boy oh boy, I uploaded some stuff last night, and I have to say this is by far the fastest HL server I've ever experienced. I was getting upload speeds of 66-110KBps !!!!!!!! Hey, Go right ahead! I take no offense since I do realize how bad DSL is. Cable is not available in my area (yet is only one area code next door...:-/) So its the best I can do. I think the same thing a lot about where I live.
Except the only difference is that the broadband provider is the other way around. We can get Cable but not DSL._________________
