I just met Space Boy about 15 minutes ago! Woo Hoo. He's a student worker at the library where I'm staff.

We'll have sometime next week and talk about 68ks, 'puters, and sci-fi movies.

(And if nothing else, I can probably talk him into keeping his eyes peeled for old 68k laptops when he goes "computer mining". I want to make a PHKL.)

Very cool! I'll most likely be metting TiMacLover on Saturday!

We should organize a once-a-year meet, maybe one in the US and one in Aus!

Yep, I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've met someone that I knew online in 'real life'.
Kady- I'd be happy to be on the lookout for 68k 'books- I'm currently looking for one or two to set up my mom and aunt with basic email accounts, so if I turn up any extra I'll let you know!
Later,
SpaceBoy

Perhapps the North American meet can be in a central location. Rather than on one of the coasts. Somewhere in the middle of the continent. Maybe Chicago? What do you think?

Chicago is perfect, really. I dunno if it'll ever happen, but it'd be great to plan out!

On the other hand, because of the way the casino industry subsidizes flights, Las Vegas is one of the cheapest places to fly to in the nation.

Very true- that's one reason so many conferences are held here. If we were ever to have a MLA get-together here in Vegas, maybe we could time it to mesh with the (semi)anual Classic Gaming Expo that's been held here for at least two years running. I went to the one year-before-last, and it was a real blast. I've never seen so many Atari geeks all in one place before!
Just a thought...

Actually, I could probably organise free Apple //s for all NSWians (and QLDians who we happen to pass, accidentally dropping countless boxes...)

Heh heh, meeting online people offline - that's always....interesting. I did the classic 'meet a girl over the internet' (we were both on ICQ at the time) and when we met in real life I did a runner. I know it's very shallow of me, but she was very not good looking and I can only take a great personality so far. It's not that we couldn't have been friends (I'm not that shallow!), but she was definitely looking for a relationship and she wouldn't have left me alone....

hmm, before I dig that hole any deeper and have to open my mouth to change feet (IE. make mysef sound like an a**hole when really I'm not).... the only other person I've met offline is Bigsadu. And coincidentally we used to live quite close to each other in NZ (we're both Kiwis - go the Crusaders!!!! Kick that ACT butt!!!) The Sadu and I get on quite well but then, he's married and not likely to stalk me ;-) LOL!

Hey ~Coxy, when you come to town I'd be keen to catch up for a beer or two. Same goes for all of you guys and gals :-)

cheers

That's Sadhu!

Definitely I'd like to re-iterate Flash's invite... NSW is a very friendly place. Anyone who's keen enough to pay us a visit is certain to recieve some very warm hospitality. The clime is hot, the beer is cold, and the beds are soft. And who knows, maybe you could even end up with a couple of LCs to take home with you......

BTW, For you North Americans who may not be au fait with Southern Hemisphere sports... the Kiwis handily dismantled Australia's best in the final of the Rugby Super 12 tournament tonight... GO YOU CRUSADERS!

Cheers!

I don't think I could really ever go. I have a really tight budget. Besides I don't even have a car! I get around mostly by bicycle. I'm pretty much limited to the local area around where I live.

I'm in Bondi... Sydney Eastern suburbs. I don't get down Wollongong way much... sometimes stop in there after a hike in the Royal National Park though.

Cheers!
