Hey-
I'm looking for a copy of BeOS to load onto my 'new' PowerMac 7600. If you've got a copy, or an -err- spare backup copy, I'd like to hear from you!
Thanks,
SpaceBoy

I would, but then my iMac would be dead in the water. It's getting a bit dusty at the moment, but I've still got plans to add some neon lighting to it. Or it may get sold to finanace a PS2...
I do have the stock 233 mHz card, but it's fried.
Sorry!
SpaceBoy
PS I'm sure you already know this, but the 333 mHz cards do show up on eBay pretty frequently... just a thought...

Lemme see if I can find it... It's gotta be around here somewhere...
For whatever it's worth, I think the card might be fixable- from what I could tell, the last owner tried to update the firmware and botched the installation, resulting in an unusable, un-bootable iMac. The ROM may be fixable, but it's way out of my range of skills.
I don't know about free- do you have anything cool to trade?

Oh, I don't know... Seeing as how the card's in dubious condition, nothing fancy. Do you have the number-pad 'enter' key from an Apple Extended Keyboard II? Mine's missing...
Just a thought- I'd pretty much accept any cool little thing...

The closest thing to NeXTstep your 7600 will run is Rhapsody DR2, which is on the 68kMLA Hotline server and backup server.

My brother got a copy of BeOS at Macworld a number of years ago. I've got it somewhere. I have no use for it, as my only PPC's are G3's (which are incompatible I believe), and you can't use this version with OS 8 or later anyway

Hey candyPunk-
I'd be more then happy to take that off your hands, if you are able to find it! If you do turn it up and are willing to sell/trade/donate it, please email me at huckdunsany-at-hotmail.com , and maybe we can work something out!

Cool, thanks for the great tip! I'll see if I can get on the school T3 network and download it tomorrow...

Hey, folks, one more cool thing I turned up online:
http://www.ibexa.com/bbrown/altOS.html
This page is a list of a ton of alternate OS's for Mac systems, and many of them have working links to find 'em! Just an interesting read...
Thanks,
SpaceBoy

Hey, if it's really the right key, then call it a deal! Drop me a line at huckdunsany-at-hotmail.com or huxleydunsany-at-earthlink.net , and we'll set up the trade!

Sweet! Please let me know if/when you're able to find it- I really can't wait to try out BeOS on a Mac! I've been meaning to get my sister's old PC and load it onto that, but I'd much rather have it running on one of these 7600's...
Thanks!

Anyone know what's going on with the hotline server? I can't seem to get connected... while I'm asking, what's the address for the backup server?
Thanks,
