A while ago, I had an LC630 w/ a DOS card.Well, I ended up with a Performa 6300 Mobo, which was swapped into the case of the LC630, and that became my sisters computer. Then, at work about 2 weeks ago, they told me I could take the Quadra 630 home, or they were going to take it to a thrift shop! Needless to say I took it and it's Apple 12 inch RGB monitor. Well, I thought that this was just great. So I ripped the 68040 chip off the mobo, and replaced the 68LC040 chip in the LC 630 DOS, and added the RAM from the Quadra, filling both RAM slots (although I only have 24 MB of RAM). Previous upgrades have put 16MB (I think) of RAM on the DOS card, and an ethernet card. All together, I'm REALLY liking this new system! All I need now is to make it work on my Apple full page monitor... ~~"We are all Mad here."~~ |

Aah, the LC 630 DOS compatible. Nice machine you have there, and good work saving it from the horrors of the evil thrift shop! Yesterday i put the logic board from a dead 630 DOS compatible into a working LC580. Of course the first time around i didn't seat the Mac ram correctly, and the Mac would refuse to start up, but a reseating of the RAM fixed that. Now i only have one question. When i hit Apple - Return to enter PC mode, it tells me that a PC container cannot be found. I made one which was DOS formatted, so i can install Windows on it when i get a chance, but i have a question: Will it boot off a floppy in DOS mode? I'm planning on putting Windows 95 on and i want to make sure i can boot off a floppy so i can do it. Pizzabox LCs RULE!!!!!!! |

roflmao. But what if we're talking about DOS cards, like we are now? And besides, that would offend some of my windows zealot "friends"... Pizzabox LCs RULE!!!!!!! Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 5 |
