I'm new hear, but I'd thought I'd mention this:
If you're ever in the the kansas city area, check out the surplus exchange. It's an old warehouse down in the ghetto of kansas city, but they had (i haven't been there in a while... ) skids and skids of old macs. Between a friend of mine and myself we brought home: 2 950's a couple 700's, about 10 all-in-ones (ranging from a 128k to dual se's, to my mint classic w/ram upgrade and hdd! My friend got a plus with the signatures on the inside of the case. $5 each), 2 lw2 ntx's, apple color one scanners, mice (which the apple 2 gs mouse is the greatest adb mouse ever.), etc. It a non-for-profit place (stuff donated by business and schools mostly), so they are anal about prices, but they know nothing about macs so we got some good deals. We once missed a box of 15 emates and extras by 2 days that sold for $100 for the box!! Brought tears to my eyes. I honestly can't explain what this place is like, file cabinets full of hdds, hundreds of displays, crates of random crap. I've thought about buying, fixing up machines and selling them again, but all that happened is i had a ton of machines and a high electricity bill. here's the link... i hope somebody check this place out

I miss KC, sometimes! I lived there from '84 until '89, it's generally a pretty Mac-friendly town! I'm hoping (as is zzcoop from MAF/AAF fame) that they build an Apple Store in Crown Center.

Yes! We desperately need a apple store. Microcenter, rapes us on prices and compusa has a wimpy stock. It's only a matter of time....

Hey thelip, is your username in any way related to Maynard Ferguson (the trumpet player)?

Just wondering.

YES! it is. I've used thelip for a long time and you're the first to make the connection. MF is awesome. i've seen him live 3 times and got to meet him in person. Unfortunately i'm only 21 and never had the chance to see him 30 years ago. i played trumpet in high school and some college, and earned the nickname due to my playing style.

Hey, since you're almost the same age as me, and I'm assuming you've lived in KC a while, where did you go to elementary school? Just trying to see if we knew eachother or somethin'...

Ahhh, okay. I lived in Prairie Village ('nother KC suburb) and went to Belinder Elementary. It was worth checking to see, though!
