Earlier today, someone called my mom up to tell her that they had a couple of old cmputers to give me...well...now I have them, but no place to put them

I upgraded a performa 550 for their neighbor, and they spread the word that I was a computer nut...so now I have an almost steady flow of old computer junk comin in...

Here's what I got..

-//e (w/DuoDisk drive and mouse)
-//gs (with kb, mouse, and 3.5/5.25 floppy drives)
-green phosphor composite monitor
-color composite monitor
-rgb monitor
-Parallel interface card for IIe
-Other interface card, use unknown
-Imagewriter II (my 3rd one!)
-Apple Thermal Transfer Printer
-a bunch of wires, incl. an apple branded parallel wire

right now my sister is playing CarBuilder on the //e, which is hooked up to my 25" tv.

The //gs is in perfect working order. It has no signs of yellowing, scratches, or other forms of molestation. The keyboard shows no signs of heavy use.

The Apple Thermal Printer is a small tractor feed printer. It looks like a normal dot matrix, but it uses this really thin ink ribbon, If anyone has some more info on it, let me know!

I googled the unknown expansion card...it is an 80 column memory expansion (1k)....but right now, it has an 80 column, 64k expansion, so the extra card is useless.
After digging through the stuff more, and with a little bit of disassembly, I have found some errors in my last post.

that isn't a parallel wire...its a serial wire...oops!

The printer uses that serial interface also... The parallel card has a ribbon wire on it already.

Yep, it is built in G scale. The moles ride in the grain hoppers.

Ya, I just noticed that...I had to retype that post several times, and I didn't even care anymore. The first time I tried to post, IE froze up. By the time I put the typo filled post up, I no longer cared.

cmputers?

I must be tired....im goin to bed!

Yeppers, I was a member of a local N-scale club for about 8 years (since I was 10 years old). The club dissolved last year, but the permanent layout remains, but is under control of a local historical society....I am still in charge of the electrical system of the layout tho. I also helped lay a lot of track (300 feet or so?) and soldered all of the rail joints....

hey bro! Great liberation, there. A little 68K-searching goin on here in Indiana today too! I learned of a place here in Valpo, an industrial surplus store. So, I took the 2-mile drive, and they had a lot of computer [mac and peeeeceeeeee] stuff... no 68Ks, but about a dozen 7100/66 and /80s, 4 7200/90s, 4 7500s, a 7600/132, and a Beige G3/300 DT! Also there were Mac monitors and whatnot. However I didn't have enough money on me, so I couldn't take one home. However, I did find the boxes of SCSI/IDE cables, and found a nice SCSI cable, to possibly make a big drive case out of a peecee box.... Amongst a big box of peeecee serial cables, I found a Power Mac x100 HD45-DB15 adapter! Finally, I found a 2.1 GB Seagate ST12400N hard drive! So, I got the hard drive, a 36-inch 5 device SCSI cable and monitor adapter all for $15. The HD will probably go into one of the Quadras, and if I ever do liberate a x100 Power Mac, I'll have an adapter so I can use it! Before you shoot me down for talking PPC...hey, these poor x100 Macs are starting to really get treated like 68Ks! They need our help too - even though they are Power Macs!

Well, back to studying for finals!

Our "Nineopilis R&R" was always pretty cheap and cheerful... when a set of point cost me two weeks pocket money careful consideration was made before planning a layout as to the number of them...

And you should see the utter lack of N scale goods in my hometown... even a city of 1 million people lacks point switches!

Hey...great point! But what about the poor 603 Performas? I know, i know. They are technologically inferior to even a nice 8100/110, but still, provided you set them up correctly, they can still be great litlle Macs given a fresh install of Mac OS 8.1 and some TLC.

Now, back to Apple IIs....
