My iMac just died! All of a sudden, I heard an electrical arc and it died! I had just moved the iMac farther back on its desk, and it suddenly quit. I unplugged it and noticed that the jack for the power cord on the back of the machine was loose. I plugged it back in and it wouldn't come on when I pressed the power button. After I re-fitted the power cord to the back of the machine, it came on again. However, the menubar clock said 6:03 PM, December 31, 1969, and I had to use System Preferences.app to change it.

Has anyone else had something funky like this happen to their CRT iMac? Where can I get the power cord jack fixed?

Its your RAM, I am sure your ram is loose, just make sure its in there, unplug all your cables for 30seconds and try turning on again.

A service centre will charge you for a new PSU, but if you don't ming doing it yourself it will only cost a few bucks for an IEC socket.

Exactly. Desoldering the old one and soldering on the new one shouldn't be too hard.
