I have a cream rectangular box (about 2 inches by 1 1/4 inches) (5 cm by 3 cm) with a modem plug on one end and two telephone connections on the other. Does anyone know what it is. |

sounds like a PhoneNet (generic name for AppleTalk) transceiver, have you got two with terminators and two macs to test a daisy chain?btw: do you know anything about the two sound cards i'm trying to find drivers/docs for? (see other topics in peripherals forum ) is the sound accelerator II one of the DSP cards that might be useful for MPegDec? (the other card is a PAS 16) jt ™. . Yeah, seems like a PhoneNEt transciever. Any markings on the box? Something like TwistTalk or HyperNet is a sure giveaway.~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City

I guess it goes into my weird mac hardware box. It could be a transceiver or it might be a softmodem. I'll check it out one day.The sound accelerator II is I think based on the Motorola 56001 DSP chip I don't think there are drivers for it just programs that use the DSP directly like Pro Tools. MpegDec could run on a 68030 with a 56001 DSP chip using no downsampling and the highest quality. Don't know much about the PAS16.
