Ok, earthlink is relaly starting to upset me in the regard that i think im getting ripped off in speed. First off, I want to sample some of you ppls out there just to see if I'm right. So, if a couple people could post back with DL speeds (out of IE) and what kind of service they have, it would be appreciated.
Also, If I find i want to switch from earthlink to another provider, I'm probably going to stick with DSL (unless another EXTREMELY appitizing meal comes along). So suggestions for the north east US of A on DSL would be nice as well. Thanks a bunch.

P.S.- This is mainly in regard to having the HL server perform well (and better speeds for me at same time)

There is only one path and that is the path that you take, but you can take more than one path.

I've heard bad stuff about "Ameritech DSL"
I've heard that it kicks you off a lot.

Well, I use a dial-up so it stays right around 4 or 5k/sec. I'm more concerned with the price though, (keep those extra funds available in case of Mac-oppertunity ) so for $5.95/month....it's worth it. The other bonus is I haven't had a single diconnect or busy signal and it's an all around improvement to what I went through with AOL for a 1/5 of the price.

Which dial-up ISP do you use?

Don't go DSL, I went from 14.4 > 33.6 > 56k > DSL > Cable. Cable is the best I download at 300k max and people who download off me get really nice speeds, the hotline server would be better if you got cable and it is cheaper and you don't have to login, I don't know if this is in your area but should be check out the website.

Ok, I'm confuzzled. I go to those online meter thingies and it says between 400-700k for my DSL. Now why doesnt IE or anything else DL like that? I hate all those confuzling terms implemented by people who never touch computers! Help?

BTW, ATT broadband is not in my area unfortuneately, they only recently took over regular tv so maybe cable soon

Ok, well here is a new question for all you net gurus out there. I guess actual speed right there at once isnt my question (as much) any more. Which supports a true bigger bandwith (more connections with sustained speed) than the other, DSL -or- Cable? Any suggestions?
