What happens if I trash the Monitor preferences file?

that depends on if you have a Mac that keep basic monitor prefs in non-volatile RAM (PRAM) or in the Prefs file.

If it's the former, itr trashes some colour settings, and maybe some ColorSync multi-monitor arrangment settings.

If it's the latter, everything goes to default mode, unless the video card or monitor have their own Non-volatile RAM settings.

Sounds like a general disscussion to me. Now if he already did it and couldn't fix a possible problem that arose from such action......., well then that would be a different story. Thin line between the hypothetical and the crashed.
