Is there any way to use ethernet without a hub or crossover cable? i have finaly got ethernet cards for my lcs and am trying to connect at least one of them to an imac. I dont think there is a way, but i want to be sure before i go out and buy a hub. |

If you only want to connect two machines at a time then the crossover cable will be by far your cheapest option. Go for the hub only if you need more than 2 macs networked simultaneously.I find it handy to have a 6 inch crossover cable and a female-female RJ-45 adaptor, into which you can plug any standard ethernet cable as an extender. i was assuming that you couldnt get away without a hub, but just wanted to be sure besides, im irish, i feel it is my duty to ask stupid questions (note the new motto) i will proably just make a crossover with the straight through cable until i can be bothered getting a hubim irish, it is my duty to ask stupid questions.
