this might be kinda off topic but if you replace a 68040 (for example a 25 Mhz) with another that has a higher clockspeed (33 Mhz), don't you have to adjust the bus multpliers to get anything above 25?FireWire is fast General, 4 star 68k Macintosh Liberation Army |

That's correct, my LC 475 is still running at 25 even though I'ce got the faster processor in there. I call it having 'headroom' :) I reckon you could probably use a 33MHz 040 in a 40MHz machine with good results too (I'd certainly like to try it out anyway!)68k MLA ParaMedic |

Any takers? My inbox has not exactly been bomarded with requests for a new processor. C'mon guys (and gals), I know there's a LOT of Q605/LC475's out there that are just crying out for a FPU 68k MLA ParaMedic |

What's involved in adjusting the bus multipliers? Is that the trick that involves moving jumpers around? Can't say I've ever seen any of those little things in a 68k mac... If it's that simple, though, I'd take one.{ candyPunk } { 68k MLA } { Macs liberated: 6 } { My baby: Q660av } |

I havn't done it myself, but it's definitely a project I want to do (along with lots of other projects I'll probably never have time for ) Check out the Clock Chipping Homepage http://violet.berkeley.edu/~schrier/mhz.html68k MLA ParaMedic |
