Well, How can I do it?
I use Sys 7.5.5 on the LC
and run Sys 6.0.8 on the SE off floppies.

jt . .

p.s. let me know if these links are helpful, they're from just the first page of google hits! "how to" is one parameter i never thought to use before, pretty slick, thanks!

p.p.s. anybody know of any REALLY good howto's out there? i think there's another Links Project category taking shape here!
Not just networking, howto's categorized in an outline format as answere to a listing of FAQ's. is there already such a thing out there, maybe we only need ONE link!

The short story - go to the 7.5.5 machine and in the Appletalk control panel, select the printer port

Turn Filesharing on - also, in the Sharing Setup (or File Sharing) control panel give your LC a name, an owner and an owner password

on the 6.0.8, go to the Network control panel and pick Localtalk

Plug the cable into the printer ports on each mac

on the 6.0.8 boxie, go to the chooser and... um, on a 6.0.8 OS I'm not sure exactly what you pick - but click the filesharing icon if you have it, and you should have your LCs name appear. Double click it, login with the owner name/passwd, and then pick a drive to see!

or see the links jt posted :D

I don't have any of those control pannels!!!
I got both of the macs used, by the way.
I only have the original diskettes for the SE (OS 4), another bootdisk had 6.0.8, and the LC, 7.5.5 justcame on the HD.

I'll need to find them somewhere on the net or something....

I messed up with the 7.5.5! You won't have the control panels I mentioned there, unless you have opentransport installed... you'll have the other ones like on 6.0.8, and then only if it were installed with the mac.

anyhows, since you prolly know how to use hotline... :D... the server at 66.122.116.203:666 login user "nonbot", password "nonbot" has most OS's from 0.something to 7.5.3 in one easy spot

Not really, but Its somethink I think I'll try.

Do we have anything on Internet connection sharing through Windows XP or any kind of Windows without an ethernet card? That would be sweet. I could surf the net with a REAL MAC!

I've only gotten it to work to a degree.
It finds the drives in my LC, but won't mount them.
It says there are disk errors, does it want me to fix them?
I say yes, it says it can't fix 'em.
I say no, it just asks me to fix them again.
I don't get these errors using the drives on the LC.
Both of my drives get these errors and both in Appletalk.

Have you tried putting System 7 on an external hard drive and booting the SE off that?

I think I tried 7.x once, but it told be that the system was corrupt or something. I'll download a copy of 7.0 off the HL server.

I do have an external HD, however I ue it for my LC, and its full, I'll need to make some room first.
