I wasn't too sure where to put this one.

Anyway I have recently aquired an Apple 20SC external drive but i need to get the case open and can't see any obvious screws. It looks like the lid comes off but I'm not sure how.

TIA

It's ok I found those things on the case after I cleaned the dirt off. The only thing is it doesn't work properly know and I need it to boot my flaky colour classic I won the other day.

Does any body know why this apple drive, and I think SE/30's do it too, make that funny chirpy beepy noise when the disc is accessing. Is it the HD they use or is there actually some kind of beeper circuit along with the LED. (Unlikely I think) because I really like it :) sad I know but it makes them seem cuter!

Well after getting the thing working again I had a good look at it.
There are some holes in the top of the drive and these look just like the ones you get when there is a speaker/beeper nearby so I'm fairly sure there is a beeper in there. Its getting tempting to take this thing apart a hook the beeper up in paralel with the LED on another drive.

I must resist though as its the only way I can boot my Colour Classic whtn it throughs a wobly.

Just out of interest seeing as you are in Australia too and I've just moved here, do you know of any shops that would have bezels for a 9600 case?

TIA

I sold some graphics cards on ebay at the weekend and when the guy came over I asked him the same question, he mentioned applbits but couldn't remember where they were or what the site was.

Thanks

THAT'S an interesting idea... with all these old SCSI hard drives with those leads on them for LED accessing lights...

why NOT connect a tiny peizo speaker to them?

oooo... maybe in the Quadra 950 when I stack it full of 250MB drives...

gawd! get a freakin'acard bridge already! some of the drive arrays you people talk about putting in your machines use $70 worth of waste heat in a year and still don't add up to 10 Gigabytes! sheesh!
