Dropped by from MAF to find this treasure trove of 68k fans.I myself have a Classic, and ClassicII. But my most valued possession is a Powerbook 100, which I can proudly say I use at least 3-4 times a week. The battery (and clock batteries) are shot, so it can only be used when plugged in, but it has run like a champ for about 10 years. I use it for writing and Eric's Ultimate Solitare and the original risk. I'm at System 7.5.3. Just thought I'd say howdy! It's nice to see that people still love their old macs. Scott. |

I use my 145B running 7.5 several times a week as well, taking it to jobs (video production) to keep logs, etc. and keep some games on it for the sit and wait times.the battery in mine is also long dead, anyone know if replacements are available anywhere? maclover5 try running the 100 with the battery removed, I know they say not to, but sometimes that's the only way my 145 will run for more than a minute or two. btw, happy thanksgiving all sosumi

that was one of the first things i tried. Didn't work. When i start it up, it boots straight into System 7.1, then about 5 seconds later, it tells me that i've run out of reserve battery power and goes to sleep, even though its getting power from the adapter. I tried everything i thought of, but now i have an idea. The PRAM batteries were flat, so i chucked them out. Could new PRAM batteries get my 'Book working again? That would be very cool.Pizzabox LCs RULE!!!!!!! Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 5 |

If you're not scared to open up the battery, you should be able to replace the cells with new ones of the same kind (or even hihger capacity might work).~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit 68k Macintosh Liberation Army (now with forums!) 00013 Macs liberated. |

maclover5 you've probably tried this as well, but check the powerbook control panel, make sure under options 'don't sleep when plugged in' and 'don't allow cycling' are ticked. also, try removing that panel, along with 'battery' in the apple menu (of course, save them on a floppy), mine runs fine without them. a new pram battery is a good idea. ~coxy the battery seems to be sealed, is there a way to open it without resorting to violence, and would chemical protective gear be advised? sosumi 68k macs liberated: 3 |

http://www.upenn.edu/ccx/core/peripherals/batt/macbatt.htmlThey carry batteries for the 100 series powerbooks for $68. They will work on everything but the 190. I will get one sometime, but really only use my pb at home anyway, so it's not a huge priority. Scott.

Inside the PB batteries I'm pretty sure they use just standard sealed cells in series.~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit 68k Macintosh Liberation Army (now with forums!) 00013 Macs liberated. |
