Here's a nifty and low-starting-bid auction for twenty 2GB 5,400 rpm 50-pin Seagate hard drives! They're being sold as-is, but you gotta bet more than half of 'em are working! Would be nice for anyone who has a couple Quadra 950's that need filling!

BUT, the winning question is: How loud are they? (In comparison to my Quantum Fireball...)

That i don't know, but I just won a single one of these drives (Seagate ST52160N) from a seperate eBay auction, so I'll have to let you know when i receive it! So far, though, all of the seagte drives I've ever owned have been pretty quiet. It's the one IBM drive I have that absolutely pierces your eardrum if running outside of a well-dampened SCSI box!

Heh FireWire, i have no idea as to why you don't like a lot of noise. With the Hackintosh, the case is quite open, and i've got two noisy drives in there, so its all noisy and sounds like Command Central. However, i like it that way. Without that noise, it doesn't seem like you're doing much.

I'll check the price in a day or two. If it is still low, I may buy the lot to load up my higher end systems (Mac IIfx, Quadra 800, Power Mac 7100/80AV, Power Mac 9500/132, Power Mac G4 B&W)

I'm a quiet freak?
