This isn't actually a 68K mac issue, per se, but it relates: does anyone remember any of the Apple II ads? Especially the one showing an Apple II that was used to monitor operations on an offshore oil platform? Pretty cool.

I know a guy who works at the communicatios center for the Alaska pipeline. They bought an $800,000 system to monitor the pipeline, for alarms and such. It never worked right. They ended up replacing the console with a Mac which too this day monitors the pipeline.

As I said elsewhere, they make good home monitors also.

Don't know about that ad, but I have an apple ][ ad up on my wall that proclaims "A is for Apple" which if of course the first thing you should know about personal computers. Did you know that the Apple ][ is a school computer, an office computer, a home computer AND your computer??

I love old Vintage computer ads. The only ones I actually have in person are whatever's in my old issues of Popular Science, otrher than that, I love scanned images of them. I have a bunch on my computer. I'm gonna upload them later, but if anyone sees any old Apple ad's, SCAN THEM! I want them! Well, the scanned image atleast.

I also have an old issue of MacWorld from 1989 (Intro of SE/30) which I bought off eBay. Full of cool old ads and stuff.

Remember. If you have an old Apple ad, Scan it! I'm looking for one in particular that I seem to have lost. It's for the Apple IIc and is "Apple after school" or something. The pic is in a kids room with a bunch of old 80's crap. I like that one. I want it in a big size. I also looking for old original Mac 128k (Before they called them 128k) ads. Like "Introducing Macintosh" and such.

Jasoco, you mean the one about the 'bully nerds'? I have that one in an old National Geographic, I love it! (You'd be surprised at how many Apple ads there is in NG.) But anyways, I remember there was a website with a lot if them scanned in like that, but it's on my iMac, and I sorta spilled some water on the keyboard...yeah, so it has to dry out!

I have uploaded my small collection.
http://www.jasoco.com/pictures/compads/index.html

"Bully Nerds"?

Sounds familiar. Not sure if that's it. But I will look at those sites.

Oh, and Yes, after thinking about it. NatGeo is where I saw the ad the first time YEARS ago.. Ok, only like 5 years ago in Art Class we had a bunch of OLLLLD mags. In fact, it was those old mags that got me started on the road to Mac Userdom.

Heh..

Everytime I read one of your posts I think the "Pizzabox LCs Rule!!!!!!!" line is part of the message.

Why doesn't this forum put a separator between the post and the Sig? I had to make my own separator.

Also, the one Ad I did want wasn't there.

I can describe it more I think. It's in a kids room. The desk has a bunch of crap on it. Along with a IIc, Modem (Under the phone). There's a big shelf above the computer on the right with tons of books about school stuff and computers. Like BASIC and such. There's a Motley Crue poster on the wall as well. Can't remember the rest.

I collect real ads, maybe one day I'll digitise my collection. I've got one in particular from an old career guide book telling you about discounts for uni Macs.

Odd, the stuffed binhexed file was almost a meg. The unstuffed one was about 750K! Then I used Preview and Exported the file to another JPG and it made less than 500k. Hmm... That's so odd. But all good now.

The only annoying thing about iTookls is the Damn "SlideShow" that comes up when clicking a pic on your HomePage. I don't WANT a Damn Slideshow! I want the Damn picture! And the Damn slideshow doesn't load the first pic till you click Next then Back. You're screwed if you only have one picture.

KILL IT, APPLE! It's a BAD FEATURE and must be DESTROYED!
