Ah, conclusive proof -- what other 1991 computer can beat a 2002 G4???

Speedometer tests show that 950s rock!

I've never said this before, but as a 950 owner, it's due:

BOOOOYAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Okay, that said, thanks for the amazing pic!
BTW, what program is that? And what config was the G4?
Thanks,
SpaceBoy

Tests done in Speedometer 4.
Quadra 950 is stock, apart from having 6 SCSI hard drives of various descriptions and 40 meg RAM. The graphics test score is so low because of the RasterOps card in there for some wierd reason. Drive tested was an average 250 MB Narrow SCSI-2 device. System: 7.6.
G4 is a 2002 700 MHz iMac with the stock 40 GB Ultra ATA hard drive but it has 512 MB of RAM. System: 10.1.2, actually gets higher benchmarks in this than when I boot it into 9.2, there you go!

Wow. What was wrong with the G4? Or is the 950's SCSI setup really that studly?! As the 'official MLA68k raconteur', I've got a great story about how I came to own my 950. I should have too much time on my hands tomorrow at work, so I'll type it up and post it then.
Later!

I don't think there's anything wrong with the G4: just normal ATA/66! I mean, it's a new, stock model, and feels alright to use.

The link works fine for me...

Anyway, a SCSI-2 drive (even a Narrow one) will beat an Ultra ATA drive in benchmarking tests which use random read/write cycles...

link still a nogo!

MaximumPC did a very interesting real world type comparison and SCSI didn't make out all that well. they openly admitted that in certain tests SCSI still rules, but chose to do testing more akin to actual use.

for all but the most demanding applications, SCSI's not anywhere near being worth the additional cost.
