I've got the DOS/ PC compat card from a PowerMac 6100 installed in my Quadra 950. The card is a ****ium (I like that!) 66, and the card has a 32-meg RAM chip. Would BeOS run on a card that slow? I'd really love to run it on my PowerBook G4, but VPC 5 says that BeOS can't be run on it.
I've also got the Reply DOS-on-Mac card for my PowerMac 7100, but I've not really used it much, because a) I've got my Sonnet G3 card in the PDS slot, and b) I never had much luck with the Apple or Reply PC Card drivers/software. I heard a while back that someone was making new drivers for these cards. Do you think I could get BeOS for x86 running on either of these Macs? That'd totally rock!
On a similar note, I'm hoping to download and install NeXTStep on the aforementioned PBG4 this weekend... I'll post my results. I've never used a NeXT system, so that'll be my first try!
Later,
SpaceBoy

At least there's no danger of someone typing "Penitum-shade" or something!

I also want to install OpenStep on my PC, but I think I'll try Linux first.
Will I have to reformat my hard drive with fips to install OpenStep?

Well, I've installed BeOS 5 personal Edition on my TiBook G4 with VPC 4. So far, no go. I managed to get it installed, but it hangs on BeOS boot. The VPC readme says that it's not compatible with BeOS, so I guess it's not gonna work. Sigh.
I'll try on the PC card later this weekend.
Thanks!
