Thought I'd better call it a conquest rather than a liberation, and it's just about on topic, having a 68K processor and the possible capability to run Mac stuff! :)

After a long, long time searching, I've found someone who wants to part with a Lisa 2!

It comes with the keyboard and mouse, a Profile external hard drive, the Lisa manuals and an XL screen kit and an XL migration kit.

It boots to the test screen/disk screen at the moment - the guy isn't sure whats up - he just says it doesn't boot with the disks he has.

I've got to travel the length of the country to pick it up, and so am travelling down at the end of May when I have time off. But until then, I got some pictures sent down!

The price? GBP250 (US$360). A lot of money, which means liquidating a few other assets, but worth every penny in my eyes..

Oh joy! :D

That's probably the most complete Lisa 2/Mac XL setup I've seen...all you need now is a printer...say, JT, is the Lisa 2/Mac XL compatible with ImageWriters?

If ANYBODY on these forums ever hacked a working Lisa/Lisa 2/ Mac XL, I would be forced to draw my Stick of Justice™ and regulate. I'm sure I could gather some re-inforcements too...

Thou doth jest about serious matters!

yeah! you need to put at LEAST the 12" color monitor and a halfway decent mobo in it to be kosher! a CC tube would look stooooopid in that 12" opening! (too bad i didn't get the empty case i bid on!)

I'm sure that if you paid $360 for a Lisa 2 that you wouldn't use it as a Colour Classic enclosure.

I wouldn't even think to hack a Lisa, knowing that there's about 10000 poor, unfortunate buddies of its at the Utah landfill...

Do you think the plastic would've decomposed by now (does plastic decompose?)

LOL, i love the sparks that fly even when a just/kidding tag is attached to such an abominable suggestion! the 68kMLA flamethrower platoon doesn't see much action, so any excuse for some playtime will do!

Maybe the first ever 68kMLA Convention should be on the Lisa Mass Gravesite.

Imagine after all those years how far down those Lisas would be...it would be literally impossible to find them...unless you had the exact coordinates of where they are buried and had some kind of Lisa-detector...

there's one photo on the web already, they probably documented the event for the tax-man and some newsies were probably on hand too. find as many photos as possible, identify any landmarks visible in multiple photos and triangulate! it's google time troops! news stories might lead to photos/credits or by-lines of witnesses. there might be a record of the location in the IRS's files, didn't anybody else see erin brockovich?

Ok, no lie here...

If pics can be found, and location pinpointed, I have a front end loader available for free.

My Uncles run a construction company and gravel pit :-)

Might be cool if the pit is near Logan Utah! Otherwise renting one locally would probably cost less than flatbedding one round trip!

I googled around a bit and posted some Lisa info in the Links Project. It seems there may just possibly be a public document available regarding the lease of landfill space in Logan by either apple computer or Sun Remarketing in September of 1989 if any of this conflicting info is true and the whole landfill incident isn't a hoax altogether!

i found some things for you to download to keep your joy going until you can get your Lisa 2 home. Check out the Links Project. There is a PILE of Lisa software and info waiting there to be downloaded and archived in case that site ever goes down! have fun!

btw: you have NO idea how jealous I am of your impending acquisition! you'd better glom all the stuff I found for you and upload it to our servers! That way somebody can burn a ROM for me if I ever find one too!

This thread makes me want to go to Tekserve and demand that they give me the Lisa that they were using as a stand for a Powerbook 1400 kiosk.....
