Oookay, well i have this external 2 gig IBM drive hooked up to my PowerBook 145B, and i'm trying to make it work, but it don't want to! I start it up, and it don't mount, so i go into Drive Setup, mount the disk manually in there, and it tells me that the disk can't mount because the system software i have installed won't recognise volumes bigger than 4 gig (System 7.5.5). The funny thing is though, if my maths is correct, 4 ÷ 2 = 2 Therefore, it has to work, because i know for a fact that this is a 2 gig drive, and that it works, because i've used it before on a Performa 580 on System 7.6.1. Anyone know what weird voodo is going on here? -------------------------- Pizzabox LCs RULE!!!!!!! Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 6!!! I'd try using FWB Mounter or SCSI Probe and see if they will mount it.666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Regular Disappear! |

how much RAM have you got in the machine? if you don't have a lot, you might not have 32bit addressing enabled. dunno, i'm just guessing, never had a SCSI disk that big on a machine without a lot of RAM. it just strikes me as being an HDD version of the mongo system folder error. jt ™

Ram? She's maxed out at 32 megs. I have 32 bit addressing enabled i'm sure lemme check... *wakes up PowerBook* yep, its on. Btw, i'll try out SCSIProbe later Thanks for your help! -------------------------- Pizzabox LCs RULE!!!!!!! Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 6!!! if scsi probe didn't mount it, it's back to all the basics which weren't covered yet:have you tried a different cable or terminator? you have it correctly terminated? what is the SCSI ID and is there a conflict? you haven't done any low level formatting yet? you did and now drive setup doesn't like its own work? did you try setting it up on another mac? has it ever mounted on another mac? jt ™

Its terminated properly and everything. The SCSI ID is 6, i haven't done any low level formatting yet, and yes, i have used it successfully on a Performa 580. I'm yet to have a go with SCSIProbe, but i'll give it a shot when i get a chance. Thanks again for your help Btw, i have 8 megs of ram, not 32. What the hell was i thinking??? -------------------------- Pizzabox LCs RULE!!!!!!! Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 6!!! QFW68KPB Project SUCCESS!!!!! |
