Sorry, I know this isn't really a 68k topic, but some people are afraid of Netscape 6.2, so I've been trying to qalm fears in the MAF and I figured I might as well here. I really like it. At first I was having issues trying to download any files through NS 6.2, but I solved that. So far the only gripe I have is that it's not as fast as Opera. But, I have more issues with Opera so for now NS 6.2 is my main browser on anything other than my 68k's. IE 5 is being retarded lately and I really don't like iCab, at least not on anything other than a 68k.Here's a screenshot just to show off the UI. Yeah, it doesn't belong here, but I see no harm in letting this thread run.I abandoned Netscape on version 4.7.7. I can't stand the interface of 6, and 4.7.x crashes way too frequently, so I reluctently migrated to IE 5. Now that I am running Mac OS 10.1.1 more often, I figured out a way to sync the bookmarks from OS 9 and OS X versions of Internet Explorer. http://www.macaddict.com/forums/Forum32/HTML/001215.html ------------------ Captain Z - Sniper 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 17 68K Macs Liberated |

I admit it's not for everybody, but I like how super simple and clean it looks. I'm a fan of the "Isean" UI strategy, which this really hits on the nail.Private EL CINE 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Master of the Mac II series forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 4 |

I've been a OmniWeb user since I got OS X v10.0 . I'm using the Sneaky Peek (aka Beta) of OmniWeb 4.1 and it's quite nice. I can't wait until OmniWeb 4.1 final comes out. After using OmniWeb and getting used to some it's features such as the Built in Spell Checker (really nice in forums) it's hard to use Internet Explorer anymore. -Scott68k Macintosh Liberation Army skamen- Lieutenant Commander Total 68k Macs Liberated: 3 Edited by - skamen on 01 Dec 2001 06:24:12

It's not as bad as the initial release of Netscape 6 but I'd rather use Mozilla, which although marginally faster, is still quite slow. IE is generally the fastest and most reliable browser in OS X. iCab for PPC works the best for me on Classic machines. Netscape was my first web browser way back in the 2.0 days and stayed that way until I got a G4 and discovered the beauty of IE 4.5. Someday it may become my browser of choice again, but only if the bloat of previous versions (basically 4 - 6) is cut back.END OF LINE |

To bring it back on topic for 68k land... my debian Q630/40 ran mozilla for a little while when I was checking out linux gui's... looks like, sounds like and tastes like Netscape 6... It looked a bit dodgy in 640x480 and 256 colours, and I wasn't too fussed on trying a larger monitor/getting more colours from X - but it ran usably!. dana (all chant now... oh-four-oh.. cha cha cha... oh-four-oh :D
