I think spring has finally come to the midwest! The sky was clear, it seemed larger than usual even. The weather was warm, it was just... amazing. Anyone else get rather affected by weather?

I'm here in the midwest U.S. too, in Indiana. And, I am a meteorology major at Valparaiso University! I should be the 68KMLA meteorologist! Yesterday here we had an inch of snow! This morning I woke up to the sound of thunder! A decent squall line came through here, and it's starting to cool off somewhat. It'll be in the 40s here tomorrow, but this weekend looks warmer! We get some wild spring weather here in the Midwest! Bring on some unstable airmasses! Bring on the convective activity [severe thunderstorms]! I want to go storm chasing with our Universty storm intercept team!

I can't wait till either at the end of my sophomore or junior year, when I have the opportunity go on a 10-day chase out in the heart of Tornado Alley! For this spring, I'm just hoping for some good svr wx events so I can go on a day chase! I did base support on our last day chase, back on October 24, '01. Here's what happened on that day: We positioned our chase units down near Champaign, IL where the storms were forecast to develop. They got into a hail shaft - not a good place to be while chasing BTW, but did not see any tornadic activity. Instead, as the line of svr tstms rolled towards us back in Valpo, they dropped twisters - several F1s, a couple F2s, and an F3 - just to our northeast, tearing a lot of shit up! It was one of the schweeetest svr wx events I'd gotten to experience in a looong time, especially in late October!
