Today I was on my way out to Oceanside, NY, a town roughly 50 minute drive from where I live. I was going to go to the only Computer Renaissance left on Long Island. Well, I had an accident while I was there.I was driveing through the parking lot of the place, looking for this store. There were people lined up for the light to change, and I though I could maneuver around the end car. In didn't approximate right, and caused an accident, ripping her bumper off. It was entirely my fault, and it didn't help the fact that it was my first accident ever. I was really upset that I was stupid enough to do that. In the end, there was only damage to her bumper (it fell off, no damage to the car otherwise) and no damage to me. I got a ticket for not having a valid insurince card (I had a temporary one, but my parents, which I am covered under, have the new card and never put it in my car ) Luckly, no one was hurt. Now the worst part. I have to tell my parents about this so that they aren't wondering why the insurance rates just went through the roof... If I don't come back within 2 days, assume my parents have killed me. (edit: I got the ticket for not having one, not for having one) ------------------ Captain Z - Sniper 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 17 68K Macs Liberated Visit Captain Z's Starbase of EV Stuff Edited by - Captain Z on 01 Apr 2002 15:31:14 |

The ticket was for not having the full fledged card on me. Luckly, my parents still had the insurence there, so the number still checked out.I have to show up in traffic court with a letter from the insurance company stating that I was under insurance at the time. If I do so, the ticket is dropped. Another not so great thing just occured. I was checking the listing of parts for sale at OWC, and the price of the Mercury G4/500 ZIF just dropped from $279 to $265. Too bad I bought at $279 on Friday night. So I reiterate. Today sucked royally. ------------------ Captain Z - Sniper 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 17 68K Macs Liberated Visit Captain Z's Starbase of EV Stuff |

I know, I was jess kiddin' ya! You're batting 0 for 2, Cap'n. Well, who knows, maybe you'll bump into a owner-less Quadra 950 on your way to the courthouse to make up for it? The 68k Gods do work in mysterious ways, you know...! 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Regular Disappear! |

sorry to hear about your troubles, Z.make sure you can't do it online or by phone, your insurance agent might also be able to do it for you w/o the court appearance. as far as computer renaissance goes, they always seem way overpriced to me, but i have picked up a couple of things at a good price. have you ever been to one of the marketpro? i got some great deals on scsi drives and cd-drives at the show at yonkers raceway on the 23rd. check out their show at aqueduct on the 6th and 7th, there's another one the same days at the meadowlands expo center in seacaucus. if you're still alive maybe you'll have better luck there! a pile of brand new (looking, might be rebuilt) scsi zip drives were $29/ea.(cable & the small lump on a rope included) i was going to post this for the comrades in the area later anyway (wonk), but maybe it'll cheer you up doing it here if you 've survived this long! what are you having for your (hopefully not) last meal? btw: they have shows all over the country, i just checked the site. has anybody else been to one of them? jt ™

OK, I am posting from beyond the grave now. Who knew that both heaven and hell have OC-48 lines installed. Hmm... (j/k)No, I am not dead, but my parents kinda freaked out at first, then calmed down, and told me that they will help me take care of this. And the reason why I was going to Computer Renaissance is because back where I used to go to college (Rochester Institute of Tech.), there was one down the street, and always had a good supply of Mac's (ranging from SE to G4), and I was hoping this one was like it. All that was there was a single Performa 640CD, which was being sold for $199. So much for that, ain't heading back there again! ------------------ Captain Z - Sniper 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 17 68K Macs Liberated Visit Captain Z's Starbase of EV Stuff |

You'd have to admit, though, that the 640CD is kinda nifty... from LEM: " To top it off, the DOS card plugged into the CPU socket and also used the PDS, but it left the comm and video slots free. Unlike other DOS Compatible Macs, the 630/640 doesn't use a hydra video cable; both Mac and PC sides share the same video port. The DOS card also includes a joystick port, which plugs into the PDS socket." -------------------- keeper of the website and beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ --------------------
