Back when the PPC-based Macs came out, I kept hearing about how fast they were... in native mode. Everything I read said that in emulation mode, they were still slower than the high-end Quadras. Does anybody know when 68k emulation on the PPC was able to run faster than a 68040?Sgt. Tallgeese Apple II Squad Leader 68k Mac Liberation Army 68k Macs Liberated: 3 |

I don't know for sure but I'd say it was with the G2's.Private EL CINE 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Master of the Mac II series forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 4 |

Yeah, the G2 series of systems. The 7200, 7500, 8500, and 9500 all had the PowerPC 604 processor, which was much better at handling 68K emulation tasks.------------------ Captain Z - Sniper 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 17 68K Macs Liberated |

I have a performa 6115 (601) and it isn't so bad with 68k apps, but I haven't tried anything overly demanding. Just arcade style games. It seems to run stuff like that perfectly fine, though. As for big time stuff, I'm not sure.{ candyPunk } { 68k MLA } { Macs liberated: 6 } { My baby: Q660av } |
