I just checked my Hotmail account, something I havn't done for a few days, and there were 1528 messages in my In-Box! Looks like 'Cassandra and all her horny friends' were looking for a date last night. Pity I didn't check my email earlier

Now you know why I gave up on hotmail a long time ago...
Start was alright, but since it has gotten popular it has lost any speed/anonyminity(?) advantage it once had...

Free email sucks!

Yahoo messenger is getting as bad. Yahoo is targeting spam to their members...they seem to think I need a home loan, a security camera and I am horny most of the time. You know they might be right:)

It's funny the number of companied that seem to exist only to mail out spam... or maybe there are actually enough idiots who buy from them to keep them alive!

when you open a hotmail account, you have to make sure you opt not to be listed in the member directory and choose a filter, then you only get a couple of hotmail/msn spammail per week. I neglected to do this once and yikes!

I have Hotmail. I'm not listed in any members directory and I have no spam filter on. I have received 0 spam emails. (Except for those "Win a free X-box!" spam mails I keep getting from the Hotmail staff..... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!)

I should point out that 1520 of the 1528 messages were from 'Cassandra and her horny friends' So it's a robot, not spam from multiple locations.
The other thing is...This is exactly why I have a Hotmail account - to collect spam! I certainly don't want this crap in my personal inbox. Every time I have to register for anything on the web, I enter my Hotmail address... coz you know they're going to send you information that you don't want

maybe it's an "ai" bot and her friends from the future!

i got my first yahoo address for the same reason and started getting junk right away on my aol account, shoulda set up a dummy username catch basin there beforehand. live and learn.

i saw somebody who posted his email in the open on a site with added spaces to deter bots from harvesting it. links to interesting sites for tricks on net usage would be very helpful and much appreciated in the LINKS PROJECT, btw.

is there any way to script an offline menubar so we could click on smilies, and editable boilerplate in a seperate app on the desktop and have the os paste the text at the cursor location in the browser? is a utility app to do this already available?

back again, having one to paste at the last cursor location in the previous window of ANY app would be really cool!

I hav used Hotmail for about 6 months now. I also have a spam mail adress over at spray.se, whenever I get spam invaded I just move to a new adress, because the filters suck.

Now that 68kmla.com is registered, someone should configure a mail server so we can get @68kmla.com email addresses!

Anyone with a mail server to spare?

On thing you can do: I've seen people advertise their email addresses as coxyarmadillo@literatureanteaterclassics.com, and then they tell you to remove the menagrie from the addy!

I signed up for my "Yahoo! Deutschland" account for spam as well.
Only personal friends know my other addresses. The other many I don't check at all.

I've been using my Hotmail account for about 4 years now, which I now really regret. Over that time, I've accumulated about 1500 messages that I really want to keep- both things I've recieved and things I've writen, and all things I want to keep. Hotmail provides no way to download old messages, so I'm stuck with the account. I signed up for the 'Expanded Service" ($20 down the drain- stupid! Stupid! <smacks self on forehead>), after which I've been under a constand deluge of spam. I get between 30 (on a really good day) and 400 spams a day! Really, several times in the past few weeks, I've gotten 400+ messages from the same address, over and over again, in one day.
Anyway, I've learned my lesson- I'm planning on switching to another service soon...
Just my $.02

I have this conspiracy theory that companies pay MicroSoft, who lets them spam Hotmail adresses.

Actually, you can download Hotmail messages using Outlook Express. I'm sure the details are floating about online somewhere.

Cheers!
