If you see any really old PCs in the trash, you could try raiding them for SIMMs. I've scored loads of good 72 pin RAM that way, but 30 pin has been a bit rarer.
Is it a Classic II FPU card, or a standard PLCC chip? The Classic II has a proprietary 50 pin slot that takes an FPU card especially designed for the Classic II. It will not take a standard PLCC chip unlike most Macs.
