Hi...

I saw this apple training manual on Amazon.  It is from 2005. A used copy cost less then $2.00 plus shipping.  Newer issues cost over $200.00:

Do you think it might have schematics of a color classic analog board in it?  Do you think it has schematics of any 68K Mac computers in it?
I was looking for older books that might have 68K Mac technical information in them.

Anyone own this book and can advise me?

In 2005? No. The Colour Classic (discontinued 1994) became "obsolete" (over 7 years old) in 2001. It went "vintage" (no service outside California) in 1999. Get a book from before 1996/7. 

Edit: 2003 = all 68k Macs obsolete (I think).

Offhand, I have my doubts that you'll find any published Apple training manual with schematics of anything. Check out the DevNotes and Service Manuals, Block Diagrams in the former and board level diagnostic/swapout checklists in the latter is about as technical as you'll find.

Worked, but Apple Certification only extends to swapout level info AFAIK and much expect to be the case given previous early model references. The increasing complexity and most especially decreasing serviceability at component level for newer systems probably make the Service Source diagnostics more complex, but no more informative for the kind of info you seek.

The CC's MoBo is a bastardized version of one of the LC series boards, is it not? I'd check for schematics of that model for applicable info on the CC Board at the schematic level.

just tossing this out there blob is retired... but if we really need him to do more schematics for us, first we have to be really nice about it   Second,  his rate is 30 an hour, witch some boards can wrack up the hours.   so just saying.

the color classic AB i think would be a good one do to ...  i'v already covered him for the Mainboard.. and the Classic II mb...  if someone else wants to kick in that is cool.. i could send him a color classic A/B and pay em... but it might not be till fall... if its up to me.

Thanks Trash.  Will do.  I found another book on Amazon for $2.49 plus $3.00 for shipping.  It is called:

"The Dead Mac Scrolls: The MacIntosh Bible Guide to Saving Thousands on Mac Repairs : How to Fix Hundreds of Hardware Problems Without Going Bankrupt Paperback – January, 1992.  By Larry Pina.

Amazon still has a lot of copies for under $3.00 each plus $3.00 for postage in the US.  I have no idea if it is any good or not.  But for a little less then $6.00, I decided i could buy it.

Bound copies of these books are the only way to go for in depth study, no index or even keyword search of a .PDF comes close to post-it note tab markup. Pina's DMS is invaluable up to the Mac II or so, especially so for peripherals repairs. The only lacking feature is a good Aleph-Beth index, but the model specific index is quite good. IMO, PDF versions are for quick reference. There's good reason for the Missing Manual thing, nothing beats a bookshelf of reference materials at hand  .  .  .

.  .  .  but I'm a Dinosaur from the RTFM era  .  .  .  circa late Cretaceous. :blink:

I didn't realize it was the AB you wanted when I mentioned an LC as a possible source for schematic info.

I checked it out anyway, LEM says the brain dead LCII board is the basis for the CC's merely comatose MoBo. Socket provision for CoPro install seems like dressing up a pig, but at least it's something.

Turns out the Block Diagrams in the DevNotes tell a slightly different story. Dunno how much different, but it's interesting. Sometimes LEM is Brain Dead  .  .  .  or makes unwarranted assumptions.

Yeah it's kind of funny it's like the color classic and the classic II share some level of DNA from the LC II, Like not similar but more like a DEVIL offspring ????.

let me clarify something, Have decided that I am not interested in paying blob to make a schematic for the Color Classic or (MacTV-520-550-575) A/B's.   but if someone else wants to contact him and send him a board/ pay em,  cool.
