Will Airport WiFi on clamshell iBook work in OS 8.5?

I'm pretty sure you'll need at least 8.6

I wonder though, could one transplant the extensions from 8.6+ and expect them to work?

Has anyone ever actually tried this? Since no AirPort-equipped Mac has ever officially supported Mac OS 8.5, I'm not surprised if nobody has.

This would make for a fascinating experiment!

I'll install 9.1

I know that simply copying the Airport extensions/control panel from 9.1 to 8.5 does not work. Things got crashy/freezy as soon as I tried to turn on the radio. (Orinoco Silver card in my Wallstreet) The 9.1 extensions work perfectly under 8.6 though.
