What's safe to touch?

I've developed a slight screen glitch (SE/30); the screen's width now slightly grows and shrinks. It's not constant, but it is a bit bothersome. Other than this, the screen is pretty bright & stable.

Before I change the power supply (unless anyone else has any thoughts?), I'd like to reflow some of the analogue board's solder joints, just to make sure it's nothing I can do quickly.

Could anyone give me a quick run-through of what's safe to touch, and what isn't - perhaps for fingers and / or a soldering iron.

Don't touch anything around the red pad in the screen, first thing is to discharge the CRT.

i had a classic doing that… unplug the hard drive and see if it still does it.. if it doesn't,,, you can solder some wires right from the power switch to a external HD power supply (with molex) to power the hard drive. then just use a few dabs of e6000 on the psu to the top of the hd.

That's great advice - thanks. So, I'd need to open up the power supply, to get at the power switch?

The monitor still twitches when the disk isn't plugged in though, so it's possibly something else. I've had a look at the ccadams site, and tried resoldering most of the analog board connector points, but alas, the screen's still twitching around.

If I lightly tap the side of the machine while it's on, this seems to resolve things for a while at least. So, am I right in assuming that this is probably a bad solder joint?
