This is an iMac DV. nothing else is wrong with it. Starts up quickly, no whine. Everything functions.
mind you, it was stored upside down (guess who's bright idea THAT was

but what could have failed? there's nothing loose inside, and everything works fine. I have reset PRAM, tried to reset the controls on the monitor. heck, I even tried apple's private screen adjustments (as well as made my own tool to do it) and no matter what I do, it doesn't budge.
