What is your favourite compact mac? (B/W ones)

Mine is the mac plus! it´s the one i used first, and it´s definately the one that was really powerful for its time. Besides it was the longest mac to be in the production line.

My second favourite has to be the SE/30 simply because of it power and expandability (a bit limited though).

I don't think there's any doubt the SE/30 wins this one. All the black and whites after the SE family are crippled in some way so they won't steal sales from the Mac II line.

i wish we could vote twice, but i would have to say the 128K and the SE/30, not only because i own both but because they represent the two greatest levels of innovation within the compact lineup, imo.

SE/30. How can you beat a compact machine with a 68030 and FPU?

I remember loving those little machines because they were compact, reasonably fast, and were cheap. (When I picked up my first compact Mac, an SE, in 1997 even old and slow laptops with a crappy screen were quite expensive. Of course that has changed since laptops have flooded the markets.)

i cant decide between classic or SE... :/ sure SE/30 is the most powerful machine but I dont have one...

My classic is in prestine condition but the SE is far more retro... hmmm, hard decision...

that is because the se\30 technical;ly anihalets all comers even the feckid over rated ugly color classic is chrushed by the se\30 because it has a full 030 cpu can take 128 mb of ram has an internal slot can take mac os 8.1 and an internal cdrom

how can you beat that ? no color froma crippled computer in a ugly case wont do it

the only thing thats not to like about the se\30 is its inflated used price

i would say it's pretty cheap to get it on the UK/ Europe. I payed about a £20 for one and 30€ for the other (with 128mb of ram!).

It all depends what you mean by expensive of course. Compared to a classic which is practically worthless then it is expensive.

Anyway, I vote the Classic II. Sure, it wasn't as expandable as the SE/30, but it was the only other B&W to have something other than an 8MHz 68000 and retailed for far cheaper than the SE/30. Besides, it's cute as the dickens

I have to say the 128K. Not only was it the first compact, but it also the toughest for me to find for my collection! It's also the only compact model I have bothered to restore to functioning status - I acquired a couple of non-working ones in my quest for a collectable example. :b&w:
