Welcome back!

My apologies to the admins, and I don't mean to sound rude, but I really don't like the new forum layout. Maybe it's just me, I have difficulties adjusting to something new. But...is there some sort of option that allows us to view the forum layout the way it was before?

Welcome back, 68KMLA! Love the new look (especially the logo), but as others mentioned, it will take a bit to get used to. That said, I welcome the change. :)

Woah, not so sure about this new layout myself. It doesn't seem to render properly in older Mac browsers such as iCab, which is a big downer in my opinion since this is an old Mac forum. Although, I've never been happy with the appearance of the forum since the Great Crash a couple of years ago - I thought that original OS 7/8 style was perfect.

The new style will probably grow on me with time but I'm definitely in support of a retro Mac OS theme for the future.

You know, I was thinking the same thing right after I posted my post, MacMan. I'm wondering if this is only temporary as the default since the forum was just upgraded today. I wonder how much more flexible phpBB3 is when it comes to theming. I'd definitely love to see a more "System 6/7" look to coincide with the 68KMLA. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I like the new appearance, it looks really good in Google Chrome, and I also like that it puts emphasis on the content of the post.

Where's the link to look at/post PM's?
You can get to your PMs through the link in the light blue box at the top of the page – it will say something like "x new messages". As for posts, what do you mean? If you're looking for a specific user's posts, go to their profile and click the link that says "Search user’s posts" in the bottom right hand pane.

I myself thank Tom for upgrading, and love the new look. This theme, and the theme on phpbb2 are just default themes. This one is much nicer.

Thanks Tom!

Quite honestly, it feels clunky and awkward.

How the page stretches to the window causes this. I miss the border.

DOWN WITH HD!!!!

DOWN!!!! }:)

Woah, this is new. I suppose this'll take a little getting used to, but yay for upgrades! Maybe some kind-hearted soul will finally re-make a Paltinum theme for the forums now that we've finally upgraded :p But cheers to the admins for a seemingly flawless update, lookin' good fellas!

I do love the new logo :)

This just doesn't feel right for a classic Mac forum. It seems too... Modern. I may learn to enjoy it, Though if there was a selectable theme for the older style, I would enjoy it.

Has anyone tried this on OS 9 with IE5 and 800 x 600 resolution yet to see if it works?

I too think we should consider adopting a more System 7 feel to this forum. It looks nice and modern as is but there are some things I'd like to see change:

1. Replies with just a box and not clicking on a "post reply" box. (The old layout had this).

2. Names on the left. It makes more sense since English, the language of this forum, is read from left to right.

Agreed 100%

Yes, the names on the right are ridiculous. And no, I wouldn't imagine this would transfer well to an old browser as it is a CSS based layout! I don't feel like the target audience of these forums were considered. What was wrong with phpBB2 anyway?

I suspect that it would work just fine under Netscape 7 or Wamcom. But seeing as IE5 has problems with everything...

TL would have access to the actual data, but I suspect that 90% or more of us browse the forums with firefox 2 or an equivalently capable browser.

It hasn't seriously been usable on an OS7/8/9 Mac, especially 68k 7/8 Macs since we were running Snitz, back in like 2004.

As for the thing about reading left to right -- I'd say it makes more sense this way, because the most important part of each post should be just that, the content of the post itself. Why should I waste time reading 'Scott Baret' 30 times each page?
