Weird wireless problem...anyone solved this issue?

Recently, I changed wireless modems at home (with Qwest) and have been re-connecting various devices etc. I finally got around to my PB 1400s, connecting with Orinoco silver cards. My hook still works fine at the office, so I know the card and the software and 'puter are fine and work. At home, when I look at the Orinoco control panel, what I see is my network detected for about 4 seconds at a time, then disconnected for 1-2 seconds, over and over. When the disconnect occurs, the upper light on the card seems to flicker once; when it reconnects, it flickers twice. The wireless network is working fine with other devices; it is set to broadcast the SSID; it is set to WPA2 security (which the silver card dealt with just fine before). I can't explain what is causing the drop out in the ability of the card to "see" the network. As a result, I can't hook at all, via WannaBe or Classilla. I've tried naming a new network and re-finding the wireless; it finds it to create the network but then the flickering starts.

Any guesses? Has anyone experienced this problem?

I also have a Orinoco card. (But it's gold.) I don't remember if I ever had any trouble with the Orinoco drivers... But I did the following for my PB3400c:

http://www.alksoft.com/projects/unsupported_airport.html (Requires Mac OS 9.)

I think I did it mainly so I could use the laptop as a wireless bridge. Because AirPort includes the startup extension of IPNetRouter. Called AirPortAP. All I had to do was replace the config file for AirPortAP with one made in IPNetRouter and I had a free copy of IPNetRouter. But then much later I found out that at the 10 year anniversary they gave out free single user registration codes. :p

If you haven't already you could try to upgrade your silver to gold:

You could try disabling WPA2 temporarily to see if that is causing the flickering.

OS 9 has absolutely no support at all for any form of wireless security other than WEP, nor can it be added. Sadly you'll have to either turn off security completely, or downgrade to WEP, both of which are otherwise absolutely terrible ideas.
