It's not really a great conquest as such, but I finally pulled the trigger on the special SIMM for the card on eBay. It will put all 8bits of gray onto the Portrait Display next to one of my LCs with the 12" RGB sitting on top. If I had the 640x480 12" Grayscale I could also put more colors on side order of period-correct CRT.
