"Truth" font?

In one of my 7.x setups I found a defective font named "Truth" which I think may have been an earlier version of Charcoal. The font file caused an error when I tried to open it, and I haven't been able to find a working copy. It's probably not worth the effort, but does anyone have a working copy of the Truth font that you can spare? Many thanks.

In 1994, Apple® Computer, Inc., asked David Berlow for “a future gothic” to replace Chicago®, their system font. Now called Charcoal®, the design was released with Mac® OS 8 in 1996. Through operating system bundles it found its way into every form of design. Released from constraint, Berlow designed Truth FB, a radical series with a spectrum of seven weights. Like its forbear, Truth FB opens new design avenues; FB 2005.

So it looks like it was eventually called Charcoal and released with Mac OS 8. It's possible the original "Truth" font is located on a developer CD somewhere.

It was rereleased by Font Bureau in 2022 after the license expired, but Font Bureau no longer sells it. MyFonts has it for sale for an eye-watering $250. https://www.myfonts.com/collections/truth-fb-font-font-bureau

I'm gonna look around on 1994-1995 developer CDs on Archive.org. Especially the OS betas. Might be on one of those.

Found it! It was bundled with the Copland beta. I'll make a copy for you.

Here it is. One is a System 7 Suitcase TrueType binhex encoded. The other is a PC TrueType file useable on modern computers. That was a fun bit of digital archeology.

Also, the fact that it was bundled with the Copland beta makes 100% sense why it was corrupted. Copland couldn't run longer than a few minutes without self destructing.

Many versions of the evolving font circulated between 1995 and 1997. Attached are six of them.

Thank you to everyone, and what an amazing forum this is. The standard search engines got me nowhere, and the Truth font was corrupted in all the disk images that I looked at.

In Daxeria's six_truth.sit set, the most recent seems to be the one that's most worth keeping. olePigeon's font may be the same as the 1996-04-19 version on the six_truth.set.
