I work at a community college. All the G4s were replaced by brand new Mac Pros for the design/publishing lab. The others were just units from around the college, things like the PR department, etc.
These computers were just a fraction of what they got rid of but none of the wintel machines really piqued my interest. I snagged a dual XEON P2 box but turned out it wasn't worth grabbing, one of the campus tech guys had already gutted it.
Right now, I've set up two G4s (one Quicksilver 733 with maxed RAM and ATI Radeon 9000 Pro) and a Graphite unit (I'm still working on how to tell specific models by ports/features) that I maxed out the RAM by cannabilizing the other. I'm keeping 4-5 for spare parts. I've already given three away to family members. The rest of the G4s I'd intended to scrap before I came across these forums. On ebay they go for sometimes less than $100 and there was no one local interested and I didn't feel like dealing with the hassle of shipping them out. Since there's interest in a few things, I'll consider it.
The beige boxes, I have a couple projects I want to do and I've already started. One of the G3s I've already stripped down and started on modding into a hackintosh enclosure. I really want to use the 8600 for this but seeing as I only have one, I didn't want to foul it up before I was confident in my skills with a drill and dremel. I know a lot of you guys think hacking up an Apple to put x86 guts in it and I agree... But I think it'll be totally awesome when I have friends over (most of them PC guys/gals) and when they ask to see my system, I point to that ole 8600 or G3MT chassis and tell them that that's my baby and yes, it WILL run circles around anything they've got

Call it a limited edition PowerMac 9800 or something =)
The 7300s I don't have a use for but... I wasn't going to let em get scrapped...
Once I figure out exactly what things I need for the various projects I've got in mind and the ones that may come up due to the creative process inherent in Mac users, I'll put up a list of what I've got.
The two things I'm looking for really is memory for the 8600 for now in case I just decide to get a G4 upgrade for it and keep it as is and if anyone would be willing to part with one of those mythical 83MHz beige G3 motherboards
I'm really excited about all this stuff, even though two of my three bedrooms now have computer parts strewn about, my living room now has like 8 macs in it and my kitchen table is makeshift workshop #2
And for those going to yell at me about hacking up the beige machines, I say only this: "Think differently!" but yeah you can go ahead and yell at me anyway lol.
If anyone has any other suggestions then feel free to drop em, I'm always receptive to outside-the-box ideas.
