Great! Although I've only got it working on Mac OS9. It's not working on the Quadra using either 7.1, 7.5.3, 7.6 and 8.1. I've not yet looked into why. Timelord is running on two Linux boxes with Netatalk v2. One via Docker and the other manually installed. During boot the Quadra beeps when the Tardis extension loads. When you select it in Chooser I can switch between the two Linux servers. I assume everything else is installed correctly as I can mount the AFP share from the Quadra.
So after recapping and fixing my Quadra 610 (I am very happy with getting this far!) I am looking to which os to settle on? Currently I've installed Mac OS 7.1. 7.5.3, 7.6 and 8.1 (via BlueSCSI). All seem OK although I did have problems getting the network/internet connection working with 8.1. All OK now though.
Why bother with just one OS to settle on?
Pick & choose as you see fit.
Mac OS 8.1 does give you access to HFS+ volumes, if that makes a difference.
As a default, I would take the earliest/lowest OS that runs the software you want to run.
this is why we should all be very grateful for the tz database, a piece of nearly invisible infrastructure that underlies nearly all the automatic stuff that deals with time zones out there and is pretty much maintained by one person who I'm pretty sure deserves more cake than he gets
