I don't have a photo on me, but these are all definitely pre-6.0.7. In fact, these are pre-System 6 in general.

The black rectangle disappeared around early 1988. This is true of almost any Apple disk, whether it be the system, HyperCard, AppleWorks on the II, etc. The style you have referenced above was mostly used in 1987. I have a 4.1 disk with that style but all of my System 6 disks, going back to 6.0.2, are the newer style without the black box.

Some 6.0.7 disks also have a large green label with "6.0.7" in white on them. These shipped with the very early Classics, which also had 6.0.6 disks in the box. Users were told to destroy those 6.0.6 disks because of that system's bugs, but a few just may have survived...

Hi Scott,

Thank you very much to clarify this to me.And now the 800k black label are to me clear from where they come ( Macintosh Plus 1987).

Now walking around on the net i found some pictures of 1.44 floppies that contain the 6.07 white label as you say in the front and without with different ref code 690-....

690-5758-A - Macintosh Basics ( with the write "Startup from this disk" on the front) with the 6.07 already on the sticker

690-5761-A - Macintosh Basics ( another one )

As reference i found online that 690-5553-A was the 6.05 version (as "Macintosh System Tools")

so if i'm right the 5758-A could be the 6.06 (Macintosh Basics)..or something like that..  updated to 6.0.7 with a label on. isn't it ? Even if see some reference online that identify it as the V.6.07 for Macintosh LC software set.( tighter with "statup" and "additions" disks 5731-A and 5732-A)

and so the 5761 was the Macintosh Basics printed with the 6.07 already inside in 1990.

Seems to be  quiet impossible to identify correctly the software bundles around 6.07.. impossible for 6.08.

Anyway I'm principally looking for the 800K version of the 6.07 / 6.08 that was been putted in the market in 4 disks ...

but i do not found the right reference as 690 code and as picture... i'm steel searching but maybe someone here in the forum own that.

at the end i got the answer; system 6.08 was been delivered principally true BBS to dealer and was the last updated after the 6.07; the grphic for it would be the same as the 6.07 with the same ref code 5551, 52,53,54 .. and the version 6.08 instead of the 6.07 in the back of the floppy.. ^_^
