surface capacitor repair; mobo repair

Hi, I've got an old SE/30 that is having some motherboard problems,

some of the little pot capacitors have become brittle and fallen off.

I'm looking for someone who can replace these pieces with fresh

capacitors, I am not very good at board-level repairs. If you're up

to the job, please let me know, thanks,

Frank, before you get nailed for "not searching the forums before starting a new thread" here are three existing threads that will provide you with all the info you need to know (including people who do such jobs for others):

Thread#1

Thread#2

Thread#3

Maybe we need to merge some content into a single thread and make it a sticky? I honestly think it would get about the same traffic as The Compact Mac CRT Guide sticky does.

Read the text within the "()" in my post above. I posted knowing full well what the author of this thread was requesting. Indeed, I spotted his original post on Vintage Macs, replies to which led him here. To be more to the point in giving you gentlemen part of the answer, Tyler has not only the experience in doing these jobs for himself, but he apparently has done jobs for others in the past. I posted about this very point in one of the three threads I listed above. Indeed that's why I listed them above! And here's the actual post.

I know we live in a world of "instant gratification" now. But it doesn't take a lot of digging to get much of the info you want. You just need to dig.

With that said, I've done 2 boards myself. And while I'm not against doing such work for someone, it would probably be a bit expensive to ship your board to me in Japan and then have me do the job and ship back to you from Japan. That is why I mention Tyler above. But you would need to ask him if he's interested in the work, which is something I cannot guarantee he would agree to.

thanks guys. this is one of those cases where i'm not looking to learn how to fish, but rather am looking for a fisherman who will serve me dinner. i'll dig through the posts looking for the contact info for someone who can resolder those capacitors. thanks again,

fc
