Sonnet Quaddoubler project

How did you go about the GAL? Was the security fuse actually set or could you read it out right away?

Wow, I just found this thread and am excited for the possibility!

I had looked into getting a Quadra or Centris 610 for playing around with A/UX and now finally got one. When I found out about the CPU upgrade I was intrigued and my searching led me to here. Is there still interest/progress in re-creating this CPU upgrade? I imagine that 68k chips are getting harder and harder to come by...

Did this project ever get anywhere? I've been hunting for one of these. Really wish I could take advantage of the full 68040 I put in my Centris 610 instead of being stuck at 20MHz.

I would but pushing the clock higher on the Centris board breaks the on board Ethernet which I really want to be able to use under A/UX. If A/UX wasn't so picky about hardware compatibility I would just try using an add on Ethernet adapter.

The link I shared shows how to fix that.

I have the Centris Only version of this accelerator. But it looks nearly identical. I wonder what the difference is?

@Phipli I dunno if it's just that. It has a warning sticker that it won't work in Quadras. You have to buy the other accelerator that works with everything.

If anyone is interested, I can take pictures of it once my replacement phone gets in.

@mg.man Was there a reason you decided to go for 27MHz? I figured I would try for the maximum 29.5MHz they reported to still have usable serial ports in that link. Oh I also went through my old Mac related bookmarks and found that same page I just forgot about it since whenever I originally started looking into this.

Only because it was easy/cheap/quik to get a 13.5Mhz oscillator. I've since popped in a 16Mhz one...

...but haven't done extensive testing like serial, floppy, etc. I plan to add a fan / heatsink and do the Quadra + Ethernet mods first. I have successfully booted @ 32Mhz several times... 8-)
