If I was a programmer, I think I'd put together something like this.  Although right as I was typing this, I realized I forgot the "Splash Screen" feature I'd want on it.  Oh, and maybe an "Advanced" button that'll launch your favorite Hex Editor.

FYI, I recently announced the ROM-inator II, which has a lot of those things bundled into a pre-programmed ROM image, for the SE/30 and Mac II series. http://www.bigmessowires.com/2016/05/23/introducing-the-mac-rom-inator-ii/

As far as I know, the Gestalt ID comes from some hardware (the VIA chip?) and isn't stored in ROM.

Oh OK.  This was just wishful thinking for a little app that would make it easy for a layman like me to make those kind of changes.  Turn off/on options you don't need so you get a little extra space for your disk ROM.  Maybe even an option to dynamically load control panels and extension in ROM (for stuff like accelerators or SCSI peripherals like MO drives or Zip disks.)  I suppose I'd replace the Gestalt ID with the Floppy Disk icon.  Would add the HD20 option, too.

In any event, I thought that when you changed out the SE/30 ROM with a IIsi ROM, 7.5 wigged out and didn't detect it as an SE/30 anymore.  Or something like that.

Does Rominator 2 allow for SE/30's to boot from floppy without freezing on the boot screen when custom ROM is installed? Was that problem solved?

Anyway, I can see where OP was going with this and I like the idea too.

Yes, that was a result of bad RAM and/or a bad logic board. Works fine on 2 of 2 tested SE/30s now, as well as all the other machines I have available.
