PCI PowerBooks have a fan, but it only comes on very, very rarely. I've never heard the fan in my Wallstreet spin up, and I've only heard my TiBook's spin up a couple of times.
Glad to hear that. I've used mine for about a year and never heard the fan - thought it might be faulty. The area under the power intake gets too hot for lap-comfort though, while charging.
Negative - all LCs had fans. From the original LC through to the 475. Same with all AIO LCs.
Theoretically, you probably could get away with removing the fan from an LC with no HDD, but I wouldn't recommend it. As it is the fans they used are very, very quiet.
