I saw gas for $3.89 tonight at the local Hess.

European cities tend to be old and laid out so that people do not need to travel as much as US cities that expanded during the time of cheap gas and automobiles. Except for the largest US cities, public transportation sucks since everyone has a car and likes to live out in the burbs.

Of course the thing that the government in the UK forgets is that there is a large number of people who live in the country and not in towns or cities. Our government sadly believes that the world ends at the borders of London and that beyond that there be monsters! Where I live there are about 2 buses a week but driving is still cheaper because the fares for buses and trains in this area exceed the cost of driving to the same destinations.

It's a viscious cycle in the UK at the moment. The price of everything is shooting up, largely with the governmnet at the helm, and people are soon not going to be able to afford to live normal lives because the general rate of pay remains the same.

Its ok, MacMan...our state government believes that the world ends at the borders of the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast (both on opposite sides of Brisbane, our state capital), and apart from that, and Sydney and Melbourne (both of which are in two different states), beyond that be monsters!
