Hello, I recently bought an SE with 1 floppy slot and a HD fitted, when I powered it up all I get is a flashing ? icon. I've done some research on Mac sites who suggest reloading the software but it didn't come with any. I do have brand new 1.44 floppies that I can post out if someone could copy the software, I live in the UK...

Go to Apple's old software downloads website and snag the files there.
Is it an SE FDHD (Superdrive) model or just a regular SE with the 800k drive?
Is the activity light on the hard drive blinking? Is the drive spinning up at all?
A lot of SE's shipped with 20mb stepper motor Miniscribe drives. Stiction can cause the drive to not spin up but you can free the head if you *VERY CAREFULLY* turn the stepper arm a *VERY TINY AMOUNT*.
If it spins up it will either instantly crash or it will go ready but I don't promise any reliability unless you do a surface check with one of the many disk utilities out there.

Yeah its sad that the page got brought down by apple.
So, I'll need to get psychical software on floppies to load on to the HD? I live in the UK so someone should be able to copy 800k floppies for me to get the SE running again, I'll obviously reimburse them for disc's and shipping and/or send the disc's back when the SE is up and running and make copies myself?
