SE FDHD ROM

The only difference between the SE FDHD ROM and original SE ROM is the inclusion of the FDHD driver. I assume this is for Mini vMac, which bypasses the hardware driver altogether with its own custom driver for accessing disk images. I think Paul Pratt addresses this in the build notes somewhere. Essentially, there is absolutely no difference between them for the purposes of Mac emulation, since Mini vMac does not use ANY of the ROM drivers, because it does not access any real hardware.

But the "Unsupported ROM" message is annoying!

Code:
Mini vMac is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License, version 2. For more information, see the file COPYING, included with the Mini vMac source distribution.
So rebuild it yourself without the error message.

I'm not THAT good of a hacker. and besides... w/ the SE FDHD ROM, it only shows up as an SE in the About this Mac window, so it's gestalt would be differant

Would a Mac Classic ROM work? I am assuming the whole point of the exercise is to use 1.4Mb floppies?

SE/SE FDHD/SE30/II/IIx... ROMs: 256k

Classic ROM: 512k (or 256 if its corrupt...)

Il try a Classic ROM, but a SE FDHD ROM would be perfect...

...It works, but gives an error. tesing w/ Sys7...

However, Mini vMac doesn't use floppies, so there's no point in using the FDHD build over the standard SE build.

Yes, but what everyone's trying to tell you, is that in Mini vMac, there's no difference between the SE or SE FDHD ROMs in Mini vMac.

I bet macgeek knows that very well… but I was suspecting it for quite some time, and now he just admits it himself, his goal is to have the most extensive collection of "virtual vintage Macs" ever! :)

Now, this is a rainy afternoon, I just watched my fellow countryman Roger Federer winning his 14th Grand Slam in Paris, and now I've got some time to loose. So I just sucked its ROM out of my SE FDHD, and here you go!

I just built a virtual SE FDHD for myself, and it works just fine. Now, at first it was an epic fail… I just wrote in this message that you'd gonna be disappointed, since there were no -m SEFDHD build option in Mini vMac. Then I read the news, which I hadn't done in a long time. Good news there's a v. 3.1 alpha out there, with those new build options! And actually I saw you macgeek417 were pretty active in testing those builds! ;)

Link removed, please do not post links to ROMs on the public forums. ~tl
